Krisanne Crowell
--------------------------- Krisanne has been active in the Halifax music scene since co-founding popular 8 piece rhythm and blues band "The Floorboards" in the late 80's. She played tenor saxophone and wrote many of the bands horn arrangements and was an ECMA winner with them in 1991. She has been a saxophonist/vocalist in many bands since in both R&B and jazz genres, including "The Tritones", "The Mike Oliver Band", "Muzzy and the Rhythm Network", "The David James Orchestra", "The Jazz Hoods" and currently fronts her own band of original Latin/funk/jazz based material in "K.C. and the Sunshine Band". She has been a featured performer in The Atlantic Jazz Festival and as one of "The Ladies in Blue". She has recorded with ECMA nominee, The Mike Oliver Band, Sweet Tooth, and Eileen Joyce. She received her Diploma of music from Humber College, majoring in piano performance and arranging, and her Bachelor of Music Education from Dalhousie University. She has taught elementary school music for six years and currently is a full time member of the Canadian Forces performing with the Stadacona Band as piano player, vocalist and saxophonist. Biography: Bill Harvey (pianist) --------------------------- Born and raised in small town Newfoundland, Bill began his piano studies at 7 years old and by the age of 12 he was wowing audiences with his performances of ragtime piano classics as well as playing Church organ. By 17 he had completed grade 10 at the Royal Conservatory of Music with first class honours in classical piano. Praised by many as “a natural”, Bill’s first love was always for improvising vintage jazz, blues, and popular music spanning the last century. While studying sciences at Acadia University he was a featured soloist in big bands and jazz combos and also studied pipe organ with a master organist. He performed frequently as a solo artist at various functions in Nova Scotia and then regularly at hotels and piano bars in St. John’s to help pay his way through medical school. After teaming up with Eileen Joyce, Bill played throughout the Maritimes in various venues including the Atlantic Jazz Festival, a 2003 ECMA showcase, and the acclaimed annual show Ladies i n Blue. On the new CD, No More Blue Tears, Bill co-wrote, arranged, and played piano on 8 of the 12 tracks in his recording and composing debut with Eileen Joyce. Dannny Sutherland, Bass --------------------------- Danny Sutherland from Sydney Mines has many accomplishments to his credit such as playing with Zappacosta, Sue Medley, Holly Cole, Warren Chaisson, Mike Murley, Rosemary Clooney, Minglewood, Theresa Malenfant, Kenny Wheeler, Randy Brecker of the Brecker Brothers, Cyrus Chestnut and many other well-named artists. Danny now lives in Halifax as a session bass player. He now teaches at Buckley’s Music and Stfx University.
